Bakshi says, “Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a magic ingredient for skin. It is a water-soluble nutrient and antioxidant that fights harmful free radicals that damage the skin when it is exposed to external sources such as air pollution,” explaining:

1. It brightens the skin and improves its overall appearance thanks to its antioxidant, anti-aging and anti-pigmentation properties.

2. Vitamin C improves skin texture and provides sun protection. It also helps reduce redness and rashes and soothe sun-affected skin.

3. Vitamin C is also known for its anti-aging benefits. It helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by boosting collagen production in the body.

4. Hyperpigmentation is caused by an excess of melanin production. It is not harmful, but it can cause dark spots to appear on the skin. Dark spots can be reduced with Vitamin C as it helps inhibit melanin formation.

5. The summer sun can dry out skin, but using vitamin C can help keep it hydrated. Reduces skin dryness and locks in moisture.

6. Vitamin C topically stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the skin, making it firm and supple.

7. Due to the anti-inflammatory properties of vitamin C, it helps relieve inflammation and many other skin conditions, such as acne.

3 uses for skin care

“The easiest sources of vitamin C are fruits and vegetables, but that's not the only way to enjoy its amazing skin benefits,” says Bakshi. When added to skin care products, it is known to have a significant impact on skin health because it is more effective when applied than when consumed,” advising:

1. Vitamin C powder

The best part of vitamin C powder is that it can be added to your skincare routine in several ways:

• Two tablespoons of vitamin C powder and one tablespoon of almond oil are mixed in a bowl, then water is added to make a smooth paste that can be used as a face mask.

• Vitamin C serum can also be used in place of water.

• Leave the solution on the face for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.

2. Vitamin C serum

While Vitamin C powder is more powerful than a Vitamin C serum, serums can still be tried for additional benefits, as follows:

• Two tablespoons of rose water are mixed with one tablespoon of aloe vera gel. And mix well to remove lumps.

• 2 vitamin C tablets are crushed, 1 tablespoon of glycerin is added, and 1 vitamin E capsule is cut open. The mixture is stirred well.

• Transfer the serum to a clean container and keep it in the fridge for one day once all the ingredients are completely dissolved and mixed well. Then the serum is prepared for use.

• At night, the face is cleansed and then the serum is gently massaged into the face and neck. The serum is not rubbed in excessively. The serum is left on the skin until it absorbs it. And wash the face in the morning.

3. Foods rich in vitamin C

Foods rich in Vitamin C can be included in the regular diet to give the skin a healthy glow from the inside out, such as:

• Citrus fruits such as oranges, kiwi, lemon and grapefruit

•the strawberry

Sweet pepper

•tomatoes

• Vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower.
