Marriott International appoints Michel Nader as regional vice president for the UAE

Marriott International has announced the appointment of Michel Nader as Regional Vice President for the UAE, who will lead the company's operations in the country, which currently includes 60 hotels and more than 16 rooms under 20 brands.

Nader's appointment to this position succeeds Sandeep Walia, who will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East region, effective July 2021, XNUMX.

Commenting on the matter, Sandeep Walia, incoming Chief Operating Officer for Marriott International in the Middle East, said: “Michel has extensive leadership experience and is well respected among his colleagues and hotel owners. Drawing on Nader’s extensive experience and knowledge of the sector, we look forward to enhancing our success based on the positive momentum and results achieved by our team in recent years in the UAE.”

Nader has more than 20 years of global experience in the hotel industry, most recently as Vice President of Market Affairs in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt, and prior to that was Regional Vice President for North Africa at Marriott International.

Coming from a family that has worked in the hospitality industry for three generations, Nader joined Marriott in 1999 as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at Le Bristol Hotel, a Luxury Collection hotel in Lebanon, before moving to Sheraton Coral Beach Hotel as Manager Food and Beverage Department. In 2004 Nader assumed the roles of Director of Six Sigma Operations, Black Belt at the Sheraton Menci and Sheraton La Caleta in the Canary Islands.

Nader took his first role as General Manager in 2006 when he opened the Marquis de Riscal, a Luxury Collection hotel in El Seigo, Spain, then took over the renovation and management of the iconic Maria Cristina, a Luxury Collection hotel in San Sebastian.

Nader moved to the UAE in 2013 to occupy the position of General Manager at the Aloft Abu Dhabi Hotel, overseeing the operations of eight hotels in the capital as the Regional General Manager.

It is worth noting that Nader holds a certificate from the International Glion Institute in Switzerland.
