  • What steps should we take during the holiday season to maintain our weight?

The festive season is upon us, bringing with it all the delicious food and drinks. We can avoid gaining weight during the festive season by adopting healthy eating habits. Here are some of them:

  • Do not go out on an empty stomach: Before going to the party venue, make sure to eat whole wheat cereal, a plate of fruit salad, or sliced vegetables such as carrots. Because giving up daily meals and going hungry to parties causes you to increase your intake of added calories and this is what you should avoid.
  • Eat slowly: take the time and enjoy your food - make sure to eat a small amount and chew it well and slowly. It takes about XNUMX-XNUMX minutes for the brain to realize that your stomach is full, which means that when it's time to eat a dessert, your stomach is already full.
  • Eat the food that 'fits you' first: start eating the food that appeals to you with a bowl of broth or a green salad to get full quickly.
  • Shop smart: When buying your food needs for the festive season or holidays, always choose fresh vegetables and fruits instead of canned ones. As for desserts, use natural sweeteners that taste just like refined or processed. Low-fat dairy products and whole grains are also good, healthy alternatives.
  • Plan wisely: When inviting guests to your home, don't plan on making a menu that includes food options that contain heavy sauces or are high in calories. Instead of fried chicken, we can eat grilled chicken, which is prepared with vegetables in a healthy way.
  • Make a healthy dessert: Melt a healthy dark chocolate bar (at least 70% cocoa), dip a strawberry in and serve with fresh fruit scattered around as a delicious, tasty and healthy dessert.
  • You don't need to eat seasonal food associated with a holiday all at once, there is plenty of time. So pick one thing you like or want to eat, and if you eat it, don't eat it on a daily basis. Distributing the consumption of the desired food over a long period of time minimizes weight gain and its unhealthy effects, without feeling that you are depriving yourself of the joy of the holiday season.
