Claims to strip the former Miss Malaysia of her title after her racist comment on America's protests

Samantha Katie James, who was crowned Miss Malaysia and represented her country in the Miss Universe contest for the year 2017 in the United States, wrote on her personal page on Instagram this week, following the protests in the United States of America after the murder of George Floyd: “To the blacks, I say, calm down, Take it as a challenge to be stronger. You chose to be born people of color in America for a reason. To learn a lesson.”

With this comment, many social media pioneers angered, and 80 people signed an online petition demanding that James, the adult, be stripped of the 2017 Miss Malaysia title.

The organizers of the Miss Malaysia pageant described the comments as "indecent, offensive, unacceptable and harmful".

Samantha Katie James returned with an apology for what I posted and said: “I received the message and I am sorry, I know you are in pain. I am not in your place to fully understand this.”
