The Iraqi Ministry of Interior had immediately announced the start of an immediate investigation into the incident, indicating that it was investigating a person who was accompanied by Tara Fares during her death. A committee was also formed by the Baghdad police to conduct a search at the scene, according to a statement by the Security Media Center.

In this context, the former head of the security committee in the Iraqi parliament, Hakim al-Zamili, attributed today, Friday, the assassination of Tara Fares to the “proliferation of unlicensed weapons,” calling on the Ministry of Interior to reconsider intelligence work and seriously pursue those behind the assassinations that rock Iraq from time to time. and the other.

Al-Zamili said in a statement that “the recurrence of assassinations targeting doctors, activists and artists shows that there is a failure that penetrates the security and intelligence system that is preoccupied with side business,” noting that “there is no legal deterrent to follow up and hold these gangs accountable.”

Al-Zamili called for “holding officers and security officials accountable for failing to carry out their duties” to prevent the recurrence of assassinations, the most recent of which was the assassination of the activist, Suad al-Ali, in Basra province and model Tara Faris.

Who is Tara Faris?

Tara Fares was born 22 years ago in Baghdad, to an Iraqi father and a Lebanese mother. She studied at the “Hariri Preparatory School” in the Adhamiya area, and left the study after turning to art and filming small clips that she was publishing on YouTube.

In 2015, she was chosen as the runner-up for Miss Iraq in a ceremony held at the Hunting Club, which holds special festivals and artistic parties. She moved to Greece and from there to Turkey, where she lived for a period of time, due to death threats in Iraq. But she returned to Iraq, moving between Baghdad and Erbil.

The assassination of Tara Fares represented the death of a new “icon” of beauty in Iraq, and it comes amid a series of assassinations targeting the owners of beauty centers in Baghdad about a month ago.

Many accounts talked about the perpetrators’ goal in killing Tara Fares, who was famous for modeling on social media.
