Dubai Culture and Arts Authority "Dubai Culture" concluded the activities of the 11th edition of the "Dubai and Our Living Heritage" festival, which it hosted in the Global Village in Dubai under the slogan "The Genius of Traditional Crafts in the Emirates", and attracted a record number of visitors that exceeded 42 visitors, despite the exceptional circumstances. which marked this year's edition of the festival.

Fatima Lootah, Director of the Cultural and Heritage Programs Department, at Dubai Culture, said:: «The 11th session of the Dubai Festival and Our Living Heritage has succeeded in achieving results that we consider distinctive, given the current conditions that the whole world is going through, as heritage and cultural activities at the festival have been suspended, in line with precautionary measures and preventive measures to limit the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. I thank all our partners who contributed to the success of this edition of the event, led by the Global Village, which is the ideal destination for organizing the festival’s activities and highlighting the national heritage and cultural heritage of the United Arab Emirates, and providing an opportunity for a large audience to learn about our traditional crafts, in line with the authority’s efforts to preserve heritage. Supporting local craftsmen and artists, preserving traditional handicrafts, and enhancing Dubai’s position on the global cultural tourism map, which constitutes one of the sectoral axes of our 2025 strategy roadmap.”

 

Over the course of more than four months, the "Dubai Festival and Our Living Heritage", which coincided with the celebration of Global Village's Silver Jubilee, attracted about 42,329 visitors, and witnessed the organization of 6 diverse and innovative cultural and heritage competitions, with the participation of 8 Emirati folk teams in the distinguished local arts programs throughout the period. the festival.

The festival welcomed visitors to the Global Village daily with its program filled with various topics, including traditional coffee, the traditional room, Emirati cuisine, the profession of twash, the mutawa, traditional crafts displayed throughout the festival, exhibitions selling dates, as well as virtual dialogue and educational sessions with specialists in the field of culture and heritage and workshop providers. and media professionals, with the aim of providing the public with an opportunity to learn about the most important features of the Emirati heritage, its customs and authentic traditions.

 

The festival succeeded in achieving its desired goals, which are: Raising awareness about the origins of the tangible and intangible heritage of the UAE by highlighting its rich values ​​among all segments of society. Detection, promotion and development of talents and talents in the field of culture, art and heritage. Dubai Culture was keen to provide a safe and healthy environment for visitors and participants in the festival, by adopting a number of steps and procedures that contributed to the festival’s output as it was, the most prominent of these measures: strengthening preventive measures to ensure full compliance with the hygiene and sterilization conditions specified by all employees and visitors the festival. Continuously developing health and safety rules to ensure a safe environment that supports exceptional visitor experiences, in cooperation with the Global Village management.
