These types of fruits hinder weight loss

Are you trying to lose weight but not succeeding? Even if it is fruit as a snack option, the foods you eat may be the culprit!

According to diet expert Dr. Michael Mosley, not all fruits are equal, as some may actually hinder weight loss, according to the British newspaper The Sun.

Mango, pineapple and watermelon

On its website, it said "sweet tropical fruits such as mangoes, pineapples and watermelons" should be avoided due to their high sugar content.

Instead, he suggested choosing berries, apples or pears, explaining that these fruits contain "less sugar" than their tropical counterparts.

improved blood flow

He also spoke on his podcast on BBC "Just One Thing" about the health benefits of eating an apple a day, where he said that this "delicious snack" can improve blood flow, strengthen the mind and shrink the waist circumference.

He added that apple peel is full of chemical compounds called “flavonoids” that can help with heart health and cognitive function.

He also claimed that eating one of these humble fruits (i.e. berries, apples, or pears) daily was associated with a longer life, as it could improve cholesterol and reduce inflammation.

Sweets and breakfast cereals

And if you're looking to lose weight quickly, Mosley also suggested cutting out sweets and sugary drinks, and turning to berries or a piece of dark chocolate instead.

He also advised staying away from breakfast cereals as well as low-fat products and processed starchy foods.

Start your day with eggs

As for foods you can enjoy without worrying that it will affect your health, he suggested starting your day with eggs, saying: "Boiled, scrambled or an omelette - they will keep you feeling full for longer compared to cereal or toast."

Full-fat yogurt with berries, nuts, and cinnamon is also among his recommendations.
