WhatsApp implements its threats and begins to restrict

After a threat and a threat, the management of the famous platform announced, “Friday evening, that it began restricting its services to those who refused to update the usage agreement.

This step would stop the features of the application until agreeing to the terms, according to what the platform announced if users did not agree to the new terms of service by May 15.

The page that asks users to accept Facebook's terms of service will also become permanent, and users will need to click on it to use WhatsApp.

Users will also still be able to interact with the application in other ways for a few weeks, according to the British newspaper, The Guardian, such as receiving calls or responding to messages.

Company warning

In a related context, the company warned that after a few weeks of limited features, users will not be able to receive incoming calls or notifications, and the application will stop sending messages and calls to the phone.

At this point, users will have to choose either to accept the new terms or to effectively prevent them from using WhatsApp.

Alternative apps

It is noteworthy that the company announced last January the update of the new terms of service, and many users downloaded alternative applications such as “Signal” and “Telegram” for fear that the new terms would affect privacy.

Users’ concerns included “the right to read messages and deliver information to Facebook, while Facebook launched an advertising campaign explaining that the new terms focus on a set of features that allow users to send messages to companies through the application.
