The mother of a Maadi girl reveals new details in the case of harassment and the harasser threatened us

The case of the Maadi child and the child molester continues to lead the trend after the harmful incident that a girl was subjected to in the Maadi neighborhood of Cairo on Monday, the talk of the Egyptian street.

The simple family consisting of a “deaf” father who works as a “sayy” and a mother and 6 children turned overnight into the most prominent news in Egypt due to the harassment of their “7-year-old” daughter, which millions watched and interacted with on social media.

In her first appearance, the mother of the Maadi child said that the day of the incident was the first time that her daughter had gone to bed with her father, who works as a “saiss” in Maadi.

And Abeer Nabil said that her daughter did not tell her anything about the incident, and she only learned about it after the video spread on the Internet and the security intervened.

The girl's mother said: "When I asked the girl about what happened, she said that the harasser asked me to go with him and he brought me into a building and touched my body, and suddenly a girl appeared and freed me from him and ran," adding: "I feel like I'm in a nightmare because of the incident."

The mother of the Maadi child added, during her interview with the media, Sherif Amer, on the “Happening in Egypt” program on the “mbc Egypt” channel yesterday evening, that the harasser threatened her husband when he saw him in the investigations at the Public Prosecution headquarters.

Abeer indicated that her daughter went into a wave of tears after being exposed to this situation, saying: "All I want is to get my daughter's right."

Regarding the background and circumstances of her family, the woman confirmed that her husband is “deaf” and his work is irregular, as he “works a day and ten days,” and that they are a simple family who struggle in life for their livelihood and the livelihood of their six children.

of his side Ahmed Abdel Salam, the lawyer for the Maadi child’s family, said that a confrontation took place between the girl and the harasser before the Public Prosecution, adding that the accused faces a possible sentence of no less than seven years in prison.

The lawyer added that the Egyptian people were affected by the incident because each of us considered the girl his daughter, and everyone feared for his children after this incident and the video clip.

The girl's lawyer confirmed that the appearance of the woman who confronted the harasser saved the girl at the right time, as the situation could have deteriorated into something worse.

How do we protect our children from harassment?

The director of the child helpline, Sabri Othman, said that a member of the child helpline was present in front of the Public Prosecution and sat with the Maadi girl and her mother in order to support them psychologically.

Sabri Othman said that the accused had sexually assaulted the girl and tried to blame her in the investigations, and confirmed that the girl was greatly affected by the situation she was exposed to, adding that she was young and unaware of what had happened to her, in addition to her feeling very frightened when she saw the accused in the prosecution.

Othman added that a preliminary report was submitted to the Public Prosecution regarding the case of the girl after she was sexually harassed, saying: “We will discuss what can be provided to support the family to ensure the protection of the girl and her siblings.”
