Apple is scheduled to unveil the most expensive smartphone next Wednesday, September 7, amid a global slowdown in sales of all but the most expensive devices.

This comes as the company's Pro models - especially the 6.1- and 6.7-inch versions - have helped drive record sales and profits over the past two years, as the tech giant unveiled its first 2020G-capable iPhones in late XNUMX.

These versions are priced more than $200 above the price of the company's standard model, and the devices are poised to get some of the most iconic improvements in a potentially more revolutionary cycle for the iPhone.

The question among many investors is how long the demand - which has been at record levels - for the iPhone can continue during a period of uncertainty about the economy and rising prices.

Apple remained confident that there was still interest in switching to the latest technology. Worldwide, XNUMXG network penetration remains low, the company's CEO, Tim Cook, told analysts in July. So I think there is reason to be optimistic.”

So far, Apple has bucked the industry-wide decline in smartphone sales, which fell nearly 9% last quarter from a year earlier, according to research firm International Data Corp. During the first half, the bright spot in the market was smartphones with prices above $900, according to Counterpoint Research.

Continuing to sell higher-priced phones could help Apple boost revenue even if the rate of unit sales slows or becomes stagnant in the next fiscal year. 27G phones fueled an estimated 2021% sales growth in fiscal XNUMX, according to FactSet data.

The current fiscal year, which ends in September, is expected to see iPhone unit sales slow to 2.5 percent and grow just 0.8 percent next year, according to analysts. But those analysts expected, on average, that iPhone revenue would rise 6.7% to a record $204.9 billion this fiscal year, followed by an expected 2.7% rise in fiscal 2023.

On Wednesday, the biggest changes are scheduled to be made to the more expensive Pro versions. These models are expected to have more powerful cameras, better video performance, and receive the new Apple A16 chip, according to the Wall Street Journal and seen by Al Arabiya.net.

The iPhone Pro, which started at $999 and $1099, could see a $100 price increase, while the base models stay the same — making the difference between the base model and the flagship model $300, analysts predicted.
