Dolce & Gabbana celebrates Italian ingenuity at Expo 2020 Dubai

In a wonderful celebration of authentic Italian beauty, Dolce & Gabbana joins the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai under the slogan “Beauty brings people together.”

With its poetic, dreamy design and unmistakable strength, the Italian Pavilion presents a commemorative narrative of Italian provinces, artistic treasures, ethos, craftsmanship, the creative artistic currents that have always characterized the fabric of this enchanting country, and many more synonyms that are in line with the commitment of the Dolce & Gabbana label. Protecting and promoting Italian excellence around the world.

As part of this celebration of beauty, Dolce & Gabbana has designed a special installation that celebrates the rich Italian artistic heritage and provides an exceptional visitor experience. The work embodies an architectural structure of the Baroque style and evokes the architectural characteristics of the gardens of the eighth century in southern Italy, in harmony with the bright floral garden of the Italian pavilion in an amazing color combination. The octagonal work pillars and the brick stone benches are covered with 1200 pieces of ceramic tiles, handcrafted and painted by the most skilled craftsmen in Sicily. Floral patterns, bougainvillea branches, citrus fruits and rustic landscapes decorate the tiles. Using traditional craftsmanship methods that draw tools from nature to create pure works of art, each ax is made from a mixture of clay and Sicilian volcanic stone powder, and decorated with natural colors resulting from the oxidation of minerals. The pavilion welcomes visitors by offering them a space that inspires a renewed sense of comfort, reflects the values ​​of craftsmanship, and is filled with the aroma of traditional Mediterranean plants. As always in Italy, the suite embodies the relationship between the enchanting nature, the artisanal genius and creativity of man.

The installation is a symbol and proof of the skill of the Italian masters of art in all fields of craft and art. They represent a precious intangible heritage, a repertoire of knowledge and skills that are in danger of being lost forever in this fragmented and superficial time if they are not encouraged, developed and passed on to the new generation.

Moreover, Dolce & Gabbana's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai included designing and sewing the uniforms for the youth volunteer team of the Italian Pavilion, which includes 60 university students from different universities in Italy whose mission is to accompany visitors on the exhibition grounds.
