The Hunchback of Notre Dame is missing from the market.. after the fire

Although I doubt that no one has read Victor Hugo's masterpiece, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Notre Dame cathedral fire disaster has moved this story crazy. Victor Hugo's novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" has topped online sales and has run out of bookstores since the great fire that destroyed part of Paris' famous cathedral.

To meet the growing demand, publishing houses decided to issue new editions of this novel and to transfer the proceeds from these works to the fund established for the restoration of the cathedral.

The French writer, Victor Hugo, wrote this famous novel in 1831. It takes place in 1482 during the reign of King Louis XI. The story revolves around this edifice, which at the time was dilapidated, and Hugo wanted to restore it to its glory.

A special section of interest to readers deals with a fire that broke out at the top of the cathedral.

Several films were adapted from “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” revolving around its main characters, such as the hunchback Casimodo and the gypsy Esmeralda.

The novel, which was a huge success after its release, also contributed to highlighting the "unacceptable" condition of the teacher. It was decided to launch a competition to select the best teacher qualification project, in which several engineers participated. The choice fell in 1844 to the project of Jean-Baptiste-Antoine Lassus and Eugène Violi-le-Duc.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is available free of charge on the website of the Digital Library of the National Library of France
