The British Royal commissions Sacha Jaffrey to paint the painting “The Coronation of King Charles III” to be dedicated to the ruling family in Dubai

The British Crown commissioned the artist Sasha Jaffrey, one of the world's most prominent contemporary artists, to prepare a painting that would serve as a historical piece to present a special gift to the ruling family in Dubai. British artist Sasha Jaffrey, who resides in Dubai and won the “International Artist of the Year” award, began painting the painting, which will bear the name “The Coronation of King Charles III”, during the celebrations held by the British Embassy in the UAE on the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023. 

This work was launched in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, His Excellency Simon Penny, Commercial Commissioner of His Majesty the King in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia, and the British Consul General in Dubai, and His Excellency Edward Hobart, British Ambassador to the UAE. This artwork will be presented as a gift from the British government to the ruling family in Dubai in June of this year.  

Painting information: The giant painting, three meters high and wide, reflects the principles on which King Charles III's reign was based, depicting his sense of duty and his vision for the future of the United Kingdom. The painting also reflects the human side of his personality, including his delicacy, faith, devotion to his work in the service of preserving the environment and keeping pace with change, and his declared historical position as a “defender of all religions.”

Jaffrey's work also celebrates the great affection and appreciation that King Charles III held for the United Arab Emirates, the various faiths, and the architectural heritage that characterizes the region. King Charles III, through his numerous visits to the region, established close relations with the Islamic religion, the people, and the ruling family in the Emirates. And we will see these feelings combined in the details of the painting.

I have a great love for the British royal family, and I have an old personal relationship with it by virtue of my close work with both His Highness King Charles III and His Highness Prince William in various charitable projects inside and outside Britain over a period of more than fifteen years. The work of including King Charles III’s philosophies, obsessions, passions, and his own vision of the past, present, and future in a gift from the British crown to the ruling family of Dubai, work dear to my heart, and a milestone in my career.”
