Many factors can cause intestinal worms, as follows:

• Eating raw or undercooked meat.
• Eating spoiled meat.
• Eat fruits before they are ripe
• lack of hygiene
• Drinking contaminated water or drinking water containing parasite eggs or larvae.
• Contact with contaminated stool
• Contact with contaminated soil.
• Infection through contact with bedding, clothing or towels.

Intestinal worm complications

If an intestinal worm infection is not treated for a long time, it can cause complications such as:
• Nutrient deficiency.
• Intestinal obstruction.
• pancreatitis
• Systemic cysticercosis or the development of cysts that can cause problems with the central nervous system and skeletal muscles.

Diagnostic methods

Some of the ways to diagnose intestinal worms include:
Stool analysis: to detect parasites in stool samples.
• Blood analysis: to detect parasites in the blood.
• Endoscopic examination of the colon: includes evaluation of the large and small intestine with a tube-like device to look for signs of parasites.

Prevention and treatment methods

In many cases, intestinal worms may lessen on their own due to a stronger immune system and healthier lifestyle changes, including maintaining proper hygiene, drinking clean water, and eating fresh, cooked, and clean foods, while maintaining rest and reducing stress. Medical treatment methods include:
• Medicines: These include medicines such as Albendazole and Praziquantel.
• Surgery: Doctors resort to this procedure when parasites have spread to larger areas of the intestine.
