On Autism Day.. glasses help autistic children interact

There is no smell that they are special and deranged, and there is no doubt that science has been found to help them interact more to integrate with society like any other child. The autistic child is known for intelligence, but his varying inability to interact with others. A small study found that the use of autistic children (Google glasses) with An app on smartphones may make it easier for them to distinguish facial expressions and social interaction. The researchers found that this system, known as (Super Power Glass), helps these children to perceive what is happening around them.

This came based on an experiment conducted by researchers and included 71 children between the ages of 6 and 12 years, who are undergoing a known treatment for autism known as Applied Behavior Analysis. This therapy usually involves practicing certain exercises, such as showing the child cards with faces to help him identify different emotions.

The researchers randomly assigned forty children to experience the Super Power Glass system, which is a pair of glasses with a camera and a headset that sends information about what the children have seen and heard to a smartphone app designed to help them understand and respond to social interactions.

Children with autism may struggle to recognize and respond to emotions, so the app provides them with feedback at the same time to help them develop their skills.

Better results

After six weeks of using Super Power Glass during 20-minute sessions four times a week, the researchers found that children who received this digital support performed better on tests of social adjustment, communication and behavior than a comparison group of 31 children who only received regular care. for autistic patients.

Using Super Power Glass teaches children to "seek social interaction and realize that faces are interesting and that they are able to discern what you say to them," said lead study author Dennis Wall of Stanford University in California.

He added in an email that the system "is effective as it encourages social initiative from the child and makes children realize that they are able to absorb the emotions of others on their own."

It is reported that the glasses act as a transmitter and translator, and the application relies on artificial intelligence to provide feedback that helps children track faces and distinguish emotions. A green light illuminates when the child looks at a face and then the application uses expressive faces that tell him the emotion shown on this face, and whether he is happy, angry, afraid or surprised.

Parents can use the app to learn about their children's response later and tell the child how good he is at recognizing and responding to emotions.
