What are the misconceptions about kidney stones?

milk consumption

Judging from the fact that milk is rich in calcium, the belief that eating milk and its derivatives cause kidney stones is actually a myth, as there is no research that proves that dairy products can increase the risk of kidney stones.

On the other hand, studies have shown the opposite, as consumption of dairy products can reduce the risk of developing kidney stones.

Reduce your calcium intake

Reducing calcium intake in general will reduce the formation of calcium-containing stones.

However, this is actually counterproductive and can cause serious health problems. We must understand that the human body has a natural reservoir of calcium in the form of bones.

So your bones are the storehouse of calcium, and if you don't get the recommended amount of calcium in your daily diet, your body will absorb calcium from your bones, maintain blood calcium levels and reduce your bone density.

It has been found that reducing calcium in your diet does not reduce the risk of calcium stone formation but rather increases the risk of weak bones.

Also, it is recommended that a person consume the recommended dietary amount of calcium per day, which is about 1 to 1.2 grams per day

Vitamin Supplements

And it doesn't stop when you drink milk or calcium. We've always heard that vitamin supplements are harmless for people with kidney problems, but studies have proven otherwise.

We cannot say that all vitamins are safe, especially if a person has had kidney stones in the past or is currently suffering from kidney stones.

These people are more likely to have a high risk of developing a stone again if they take vitamin C or calcium supplements in tablet form and sometimes high doses of vitamin D.

There is a way to dissolve kidney stones

There is a myth that there are ways to dissolve stones, but in fact this is not true at all, kidney tests are like stones that cannot be dissolved by taking any medication or any home remedy. There is no proven drug yet in any research that can be consumed to dissolve them.

All kidney stones need treatment

It is also a common myth, to say that all kidney stones need treatment, but in fact, the treatment of kidney stones depends on their size and location, as well as on the symptoms.

Most kidney stones are very small and do not usually require any treatment, as no medical or surgical treatment is recommended for small kidney stones.

As for surgical or medical treatment, it is only required for kidney stones stuck in the tubes that cause symptoms or large kidney stones.
