These four foods are prohibited, avoid them immediately

Food safety experts have warned against eating 4 popular foods sold in grocery stores, and they are used in many dishes, and some of them may surprise you.

Callie Knell, a microbiologist at the University of Delaware, and Dr. Brian Kwok Lee, a food chemist, revealed the banned foods as follows:

1- Raw sprouts:

If you're a fan of adding things like alfalfa sprouts as a garnish on avocado toast and sandwiches, it turns out that the risks may outweigh the benefits, especially the intention.

It can be a fertile ground for the growth of bacteria such as salmonella and E. coli, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which recommends cooking it to kill germs and reduce the risk of food poisoning, according to the Huffington Post.

2- Unpasteurized milk

There are many people who promote raw milk as having many health benefits, but it is not worth the risk, because there are a lot of disease-causing organisms still alive in this drink.

Most milk sold today is pasteurized, which means it has been heated for a certain period of time to a certain temperature to ensure that any harmful bacteria are killed.

The Food and Drug Administration also supported this idea, as raw milk can cause diseases such as salmonella and E. coli.

The FDA also notes that consuming unpasteurized milk can be particularly unsafe for those with weaker immune systems, children, the elderly, and pregnant women.

3 – Pre-cut products

Nutrition experts suggest washing pre-cut produce before eating them, as confirmed by the CDC, because they can contain bacteria.

The CDC also recommends making sure cut fruits and vegetables stay cold and separated from raw meat, poultry and seafood that may be in your grocery cart.

As for watermelon pieces, they are “the most vulnerable” to contamination for several different reasons. The first reason is that they grow in the ground, which means they can absorb dirty water during the growth process - and even come into contact with animal feces.

The skin of the fruit can also contain bacteria

4 – Hot prepared food bar

Although food served at a hot bar isn't all bad, it's important to pay attention to some of the ways it's preserved. All hot bar food must be kept at a temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, according to the FDA.

If the food is cold, it must remain at a temperature below 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

There is a “danger zone” that food can reach if left at room temperature for two hours, which occurs between 40 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit, where bacteria can multiply rapidly.

If the heating system is in doubt, you should avoid hot food bars, according to the advice of nutritionists.
