Dry hair and split ends result from a lack of care for it, in addition to adopting harmful habits that we adopt most of the time without realizing how dangerous they are and their ability to harm them. Learn about the most prominent ones below:

1- Excessive washing:

Excessive washing of hair increases its dryness, as it removes the layer of sebum that the scalp secretes to coat and moisturize the hair in order to protect it from the external aggressions it is exposed to. To protect hair from dryness, it is recommended to avoid washing it more than once or twice a week.

2- Use shampoo rich in foaming agents:

Sodium sulfate contributes to enhancing the foam of shampoo, but it is a harsh chemical on the hair as it increases its dryness and makes the color of the monthly dye appear dull. In the case of dry hair, it is recommended to stay away from it and use non-fouling shampoos, as they are sufficient to clean the hair without exacerbating the problem of dryness.

3- Rubbing the hair:

Rubbing the hair causes harm to it. This principle applies to rubbing hair while washing it in the shower or drying it with a towel. Dry hair is usually weak and sensitive, so it must be treated accordingly, by massaging it gently while washing it with shampoo, then patting it gently with a towel to dry it.

4- Exposing it to high heat:

Electrical tools, which are used to dry and straighten hair, expose all types of hair to damage. Therefore, it is recommended to stay away from them as much as possible, especially in the case of dry hair, and leave it to dry in the open air, or use the new generation of these tools that use low heat to dry hair.

5- Wash it with hot water:

What applies to electric hair styling tools also applies to hot water used to wash hair, as it harms it and increases its dryness. It is recommended to replace it with lukewarm water and finish washing the hair with cold water, which helps close the hair and makes it more shiny.

6- Adopting an unbalanced diet:

It may not be easy to adopt a balanced diet in light of the fast pace of our modern life, so in this case it is recommended to focus on eating fatty fish and nuts, in addition to fruits and vegetables, as they are very beneficial for hair health.

7- Not using protective products:

It is necessary to protect dry hair from exposure to the sun by applying a special hair protection cream, using a heat protectant serum on the hair after washing it and before drying it and straightening it with electrical tools, in addition to using a protectant serum from the salt present in sea water when needed. It is also recommended to wear a hat or scarf on the head when exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

8- Excessive straightening:

If excessive use of an electric dryer exposes hair fibers to damage, excessive use of ceramic straighteners weakens the hair and increases its dryness and damage. The same applies to hair straightening techniques using chemicals, as their effect is disastrous on the hair.

9- Neglecting to care for it:

Hair needs to devote time to care for it at least once a week, and care in this case is by using a serum specifically for dry hair that restores its fibers and provides them with protection. It is recommended to choose it without silicone and apply it to wet hair after shampoo. It can also be used in the form of a mask that is applied to the hair for an hour before shampooing or left on it overnight to be washed off the next morning.

10- Do not tie your hair before bed:

It is recommended to tie your hair or style it in a braid before sleeping to avoid friction with the pillow, which increases dryness and breakage. You can also choose a pillow cover made of silk fabric to prevent this problem.
