In the early twentieth century, different colors were assigned to racing cars to distinguish the different nationalities of the teams. As a result, French cars were introduced in blue, Italian cars were popularly red, Belgian cars were yellow, German cars were silver, and British cars were green for British racing. As a British brand, Aston Martin has adopted green as its racing color with the most famous example being the Aston Martin DBR1 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in

  1. From that car to the modern Formula 1 ® car, the colors of Aston Martin racing have remained green.

The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition is the latest creation by Girard-Perregaux, designed in collaboration with Aston Martin Lagonda. The dial is filled with an impressive gradient of a color called "Aston Martin green", achieved by carefully painting the enamel twenty-one times, resulting in seven distinct coats of paint. Automotive effects also include cross shading, a diamond-like pattern first seen in the automaker 'AM' logo (1921–1926). This shape is also inspired by the padded seats found on many high-end sports cars.

Martin is evidence of this mutual understanding and shared philosophy.”

Marek Richman, Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, added: “As the partnership between Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux strengthens, so does our shared design ethos, geared toward luxury and restraint. Evidence continues

It has to appear through subtle touches throughout the watch, in the partially open hour and minute hands for example, that are intentionally designed to evoke ideas about racing cars, avoiding exotic materials to deliver superior performance. Likewise, the central chronograph seconds hand features a counterweight similar to the side ribs first seen on the Aston Martin DB4.1958.”

The dial is decorated with three counters, a chronograph counter, and a small seconds window. Each counter includes a hand-perforated hand, complementing the design of the hour and minute hands. The middle section of each counter includes a spiral trim. The date window is located at 04:30, completing the package of functions.

With its octagonal profile, this model is a tribute to the iconic 1975 Laureato from the watchmaking house. Continuing the Girard-Perregaux design philosophy, the watch case plays with different shapes subtly. In addition, the numerous curves, facets and lines, along with smooth, polished edges, play with light in a dazzling way.

The case-back of the sapphire crystal allows a view of the Maison's automatic movement, caliber - GP03300 0141, the first time that a Laureato Chronograph has an open case back. The movement, based on the prestigious GP03300 caliber, is decorated with Côtes de Genève embossed in circular and straight patterns, polished recesses and thermally threaded screws.

and circular motifs. The movement also bears the eagle emblem, indicating that the caliber is made in-house.

The watch houses a 904mm 42L stainless steel case. This special grade of steel is less common than 316L and more expensive, and its relative advantages are superior rust resistance, better scratch resistance, and a brighter and more luxurious appearance. The use of 904L stainless steel extends to the bracelet with a brushed satin finish.

When evaluating the creativity of the Laureato watch - by Aston Martin, its profile includes different shapes, finishes and tones. Its design combines aesthetics with functionality. Moreover, it celebrates the past and embraces the future at the same time. This is an approach that resonates with both companies, making the case for an ongoing alliance between the two prestigious brands.
